Facial surgery and rejuvenation after the summer
Dr. Stavrou on the CyBC morning programme Kali Sas Mera, on facial surgery and the rejuvenation patients ask about once the summer is over. Broadcast in October 2015.
Dr. Stavrou appeared on the CyBC programme Kali Sas Mera, presented by Gavriella Christodoulou and Loucas Hamatsos, to discuss facial plastic surgery and facial rejuvenation for after the summer.
Autumn is when this question tends to arrive, because sun exposure over a Mediterranean summer shows on the face and the months that follow are the ones with the least of it. What is appropriate ranges from surface treatment of the skin to surgery on the underlying structures, and the two are not interchangeable.
The recording
The broadcast itself is not published here. The station holds the recording and no copy has been supplied to the practice, so this page carries what the segment covered rather than a player that would not play. It is added here if and when the recording is cleared for republication.
The procedures discussed
The same ground, in writing and in more detail than a television segment allows.
-
Facelift
Rhytidectomy — surgery that addresses the descent of the face and neck by repositioning the deeper tissues, tightening the underlying muscle and removing the skin that is left over. Results typically last up to ten years. -
Blepharoplasty
Surgery to the upper eyelid, the lower eyelid or both, removing or repositioning skin, fat and muscle. It is done to soften the changes that come with age, and where drooping upper lids obstruct the field of vision. -
Facial Wrinkle Treatment
Non-surgical treatment of facial lines with botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid fillers and skin-boosting injectables. The effect is temporary in every case, and each option addresses a different kind of line.
Before you act on this
A broadcast interview is general by construction. What applies to you depends on your anatomy, your history and what you are trying to achieve, and none of that can be assessed from a recording.
