Facial Surgery
Facial procedures are judged in conversation, in photographs, and in the mirror every morning. The aim is a result that reads as the same face, rested — not as a face that has been operated on.
Procedures in this category
- Blepharoplasty Surgery to the upper eyelid, the lower eyelid or both, removing or repositioning skin, fat and muscle. It is done to soften the changes that come with age, and where drooping upper lids obstruct the field of vision.
- Brow Lift Surgery to raise droopy eyebrows and reduce the horizontal lines across the forehead. Three techniques are used, chosen according to how much skin has descended, the hairline, and whether the forehead itself is being addressed.
- Chin Augmentation Placement of a custom-fitted silicone implant on the chin bone to add projection to an under-projected chin and bring it into proportion with the neck, jawline, cheeks and forehead. It is often combined with rhinoplasty.
- Facelift Rhytidectomy — surgery that addresses the descent of the face and neck by repositioning the deeper tissues, tightening the underlying muscle and removing the skin that is left over. Results typically last up to ten years.
- Facial Skin Cancer Surgery Removal of a skin cancer or precancerous lesion from the face, followed by reconstruction of the defect using local flaps, skin grafts or other techniques to restore appearance and function.
- Neck Lift Lower rhytidectomy — surgery that restores the contour of the lower face and neck by tightening the platysma muscle, redraping the skin and removing excess fat and skin. It treats the lower third of the face, not the cheeks.
- Otoplasty Surgery to reduce the projection of prominent ears and bring them into proportion with the rest of the face. It is done as a day case — under general anaesthesia in children, under local anaesthesia with light sedation in adults — from the age of five.
- Rhinoplasty Surgery to change the shape of the nose, its relationship to the rest of the face, or the way it works. Aesthetic and functional aims are usually addressed in the same operation.
