Safe & Expert Plastic Surgery in Limassol to Restore Your Confidence

Plastic Surgery has two principal sub-specialties: Cosmetic surgery and Reconstructive surgery.

    Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery involves procedures and techniques focused on enhancing our overall cosmetic appearance. All head, neck, and body areas can undergo aesthetic surgery to boost the patient’s look and confidence. Some of the key objectives of plastic surgery are symmetry, aesthetic appeal and proportion. Breast augmentation, breast lift, blepharoplasty, liposuction, rhinoplasty and facelift are popular cosmetic surgery procedures.

    Reconstructive Plastic Surgery

Reconstructive surgery restores normal function and appearance. It also helps repair deformities caused by trauma, birth disorders or medical conditions such as cancer. A typical example of reconstructive plastic surgery is skin surgery in the case of skin cancer. Reconstructive surgery is the basis of surgical training, but many plastic surgeons choose to complete additional training to perform cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery is medically necessary and covered by most health insurance plans.

Plastic Surgery Procedures performed at the European Institute of Plastic Surgery:

    • Body Surgery
    • Facial Surgery

    • Breast Surgery

Your Plastic Surgeon in Limassol, Cyprus Specialized in Body Surgery Procedures

Dr. Demetris Stavrou, MD, MSc, has gained a stellar reputation for performing plastic surgery to excellence, exceeding his patients’ expectations. He specializes in body contouring, abdominoplasty, thigh lift, arm lift, and various other body surgical treatments.

A list of our cutting-edge Body Surgery Procedures:

    • Abdominoplasty

A tummy tuck involves the removal of excess stomach skin and fat that may be resistant to diet and exercise. It also repairs separated abdominal muscles. It’s not uncommon to combine liposuction with a tummy tuck to further fine-tune your body contours.

A full abdominoplasty on the entire midsection treats all the skin redundancy. It also lowers abdominal scars from the pubis to the umbilicus and the full extent of the muscle diastasis.

A mini abdominoplasty treats a moderate bulging of the central abdomen. A shorter skin incision just above the pubic area is enough – without the need to move the umbilicus. The remaining scar looks like a C-section incision.

The procedure is done under general anesthesia and an overnight stay might be needed. The use of a light compression belt after the surgery helps reduce swelling and other possible complications.

Recovering from a tummy tuck requires a great deal of rest and downtime. That’s because the stomach muscles become engaged with almost every movement or activity. You need to refrain from strenuous activity for up to 6 weeks.

Results can be long-term although changes in body weight and/or pregnancy can alter your appearance.

    • Mommy Makeover

Becoming a mother is one of life’s most rewarding experiences. Yet, pregnancy and breastfeeding can take a toll on a woman’s body.

We offer a fully customizable combination of surgeries. Our aim is to address your unique concerns about your post-baby body and help you reclaim your pre-baby figure.

The stomach and the breasts undergo the most changes during pregnancy. Popular mommy makeover procedures include breast augmentation with or without a breast lift and a tummy tuck.

Mommy makeovers are performed under general anesthesia, and patients often return home on the same day.

The amount of recovery time needed after a mommy makeover will also depend on your individualized treatment. In general, you should plan on taking it easy for at least two weeks. Patients can normally return to their normal daily activities within two weeks. Yet, more strenuous activities and exercise will need to wait until you’ve fully healed.

    • Body Contour

Massive weight loss after bariatric procedures results in dramatic sagging of skin and fat. These can only be treated with specialized surgical techniques.

Weight loss affects areas of the body such as the face, the upper and lower limbs, the thighs, the abdomen and the breast. Cosmetic surgical treatment is indicated only when you have reached your desired weight. This has to be stable for several months.

The procedures are done in stages where different areas of the upper body (arms, breasts) and lower body (abdomen, buttocks, thighs) are combined to achieve a balanced result. In a later stage, minor refinements may be necessary for perfecting the outcomes.

Body contour is under general anesthesia and a few days a patient’s follow-up might be necessary.

Recovery depends on the extent of the procedure. Light activities may start from the 1st post-op day and more normal activities may take 2-3 weeks. The use of compression garments after surgery will help reduce fluid retention and speed up recovery.

Results can be long-term although changes in body weight and/or pregnancy can alter your appearance.

    • Brachioplasty

Brachioplasty or arm lift tightens the loose skin and removes the excess fat in the upper arms.

Brachioplasty is indicated in cases where exercise and diet cannot deal with excess fat and loose skin. The affected area here is the upper arms – especially after massive weight loss.

The skin incisions run along the inner arm and end up hidden inside the axilla. Liposuction can help maximize the results and in selected cases, it can be sufficient only by itself.

Brachioplasty is done under general anesthesia. An overnight stay might be necessary especially when combined with other procedures.

Return to everyday activities can start gradually from the 1st post-op day and be completed within 1-2 weeks. The use of pressure garments after surgery will help minimize fluid retention and speed up recovery.

Results can be long-term although changes in body weight and/or pregnancy can alter your appearance.

    • Buttock Lift

Buttock lift can reshape sagging buttocks. It enhances the volume of the area or removes and repositions local fat to give a more natural and rounded contour.

It is the perfect procedure for you having difficulties reshaping your buttocks through exercise. It also works in cases after significant weight loss with subsequent sagging of the skin.

Skin incisions are camouflaged in the underwear pattern or on the natural gluteal folds of the skin. Concurrent use of the liposuction technique helps reduce the need for long skin incisions.

The procedure is done under general anesthesia and an overnight stay might be necessary, especially when combined with other procedures.

Recovery depends on the extent of the procedure. Light activities may start from the 1st post-op day. More normal activity may take 2-3 weeks. The use of compression garments after surgery will help reduce fluid retention and speed up recovery.

Results can be long-term although changes in body weight and/or pregnancy can alter your appearance.

    • Calf Implants

A well-shaped calf is the desire of anyone who likes a beautiful and athletic body.

The area of the calf can be disproportionately thin in relation to the rest of the lower limb. This can be due to genetic predisposition which is normal or it can be a result of specific diseases such as poliomyelitis. Moreover, the atrophy can be unilateral or can be present in both calves.

The most common procedure for calf augmentation and reshaping is the placement of silicone implants. Through a small skin incision in the popliteal fossa right behind the knee, the silicone implant can be placed right above the medial or lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle. In some cases, it might be necessary to use two implants on one side, one for each head of the muscle.

The procedure is done under general anesthesia. An overnight stay in the clinic may be required.

Recovery depends on the extent of the surgery. Light activities may start from the 1st post-op day. Athletic activity may take 4 weeks. The use of compression garments after surgery will help reduce fluid retention and speed up recovery.

Results are long-term but possible changes in your body weight can alter the outcome.

    • Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic gynecology procedure. It improves the appearance of the inner and/or outer vaginal lips and creates a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Depending on your unique cosmetic goals and concerns, the labiaplasty may include:

    • Reducing elongated inner labia,
    • Or enlarging/reducing the outer labia.

Beyond cosmetic concerns, asymmetrical or overly large labia can cause physical discomfort during daily activities, such as exercise and sexual intercourse, self-esteem issues, and lack of confidence in sexual relationships.

Labiaplasty reduces or augments the vulvar labia with specialized techniques that reshape the skin and fatty tissue. Bearing special attention to the clitoris and urethra, the vulva returns to its original shape and size.

Labiaplasty is generally performed as an outpatient procedure. It may need local anesthesia or general anesthesia. Most women can return home the same day. Dr Stavrou recommends waiting at least 6 weeks before engaging in sexual activity or vigorous workouts.

    • Liposuction

Liposuction can reform the shape of the body by removing the excess fat and tightening the skin.

Liposuction is ideal for removing fat deposits in specific areas of the body that cannot be reduced with means of exercise and diet.

Body areas such as the abdomen, the inner and outer thighs, the flanks and the back can be treated alone or in combination with other surgical procedures to enhance the result.

Dr. Stavrou uses the power-assisted liposuction technique that results in a more accurate and uniform removal of the fat. By that, the possibility of irregularities of the body contour after liposuction is reduced.

The procedure can be done under general anesthesia. An overnight stay in the clinic may be required. However,  most cases are performed as outpatient procedures and are discharged home.

Recovery is easy. With a few days away from work and within a week, the swelling and bruising will go away. The post-op use of pressure garments will reduce the collection of fluids and shape your new body curves. Return to your everyday activities can begin gradually from the 1st post-op day.

Results are long-term but possible changes in your body weight or a future pregnancy can alter the outcome. Follow-up visits with Dr. Stavrou will continue for at least a year after the procedure.

    • Thigh Lift

Thigh lift tightens sagging skin, reshapes loose tissue and removes excess fat from around the thigh.

A thigh lift improves leg contours by tightening and smoothing out the skin on the inner thigh, outer thigh or both. It also removes problems associated with irritation or chafing when walking.

Incisions are strategically located around the natural folds of the buttocks and hips. They ensure the best result and that scars are as discreetly placed as possible. For more extensive degrees of weight loss, a vertical scar down the inner aspects of the thigh may be necessary.

Thigh lift in combination with liposuction enhances the results.

Thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia and an overnight stay might be necessary.

Recovery depends on the extent of the procedure. You should avoid strenuous physical activity for at least 4 to 6 weeks post-op. The use of compression garments after surgery helps reduce fluid retention and speed up recovery.

Results can be long-term although changes in body weight and/or pregnancy can alter your appearance.
