Overview
Soprano ICE Platinum is the laser platform used for hair reduction at the Nicosia and Limassol clinics. It combines three laser sources — Alexandrite, Diode and Nd:YAG — in a single handpiece.
The three suit different characteristics: Alexandrite for lighter hair, Diode across a range of skin types, and Nd:YAG for darker skin tones. Having all three in one handpiece is what allows the setting to be matched to the individual hair and skin type rather than the other way round.
The handpiece cools the skin as it works, which protects the surface while the energy reaches the follicle.
What it can treat
The face, neck, underarms, arms, chest, abdomen, back, bikini line and legs.
The sessions
A session takes around 15 to 30 minutes depending on the area. The large spot size covers larger areas more quickly. There is no recovery period and normal activities can be resumed immediately.
Several sessions are needed. Hair grows in cycles and only follicles in the active growth phase respond to any laser, so the course is planned around that rather than around a fixed number.
Settings are adjusted to the individual’s hair and skin characteristics at each session.
Afterwards
Temporary redness is the usual finding and settles quickly. Suitability, the likely number of sessions and what can realistically be achieved are established at consultation, before any course begins.
Risks and considerations
The Soprano ICE Platinum is a laser hair-removal system, so its risks are those of laser hair removal generally. Its gradual heating method and contact cooling are designed to make treatment comfortable and to widen the range of skin types that can be treated safely, but the same cautions apply: temporary redness and warmth are usual, while blistering and a temporary lightening or darkening of the skin are less common and more likely on tanned skin. Permanent pigment change and scarring are rare when the settings are matched to the skin type, which is assessed first. Sun exposure is avoided around treatment, several sessions are needed, and lasting hair reduction rather than total removal is the realistic aim.

Is the treatment painful?
Patients typically describe the sensation as mild warmth, or as a rubber band flicked against the skin. The handpiece cools the skin during treatment, which both reduces discomfort and protects the surrounding skin.
