Procedures
Body Surgery
Body contouring follows weight change, pregnancy and time. What is achievable depends on skin quality and on what the abdominal wall underneath is doing.
Procedures in this category
- Abdominoplasty Removal of excess skin and fat from the abdominal wall, with repair of the abdominal muscles where they have separated. Performed after pregnancy, caesarean section or weight loss, where the skin no longer retracts and the muscle layer underneath has weakened.
- Body Contouring Removal of loose skin and residual fat after major weight loss, with tightening of the tissue that remains. It is usually staged across more than one operation, covering the abdomen, breast, arms, thighs and buttock in whatever order the individual case requires.
- Brachioplasty (Arm Lift) Tightening of loose skin and removal of excess fat between the armpit and the elbow. Indicated where skin in the upper arm has lost its elasticity and neither exercise nor liposuction alone will address the skin envelope.
- Calf Augmentation Placement of silicone implants over the gastrocnemius muscle to increase the contour of the lower leg. Performed for cosmetic reasons where the calf is constitutionally thin, and reconstructively where atrophy follows injury or disease.
- Labiaplasty Reduction and reshaping of the labia minora so that they sit within the labia majora. Performed for discomfort during exercise, hygiene or intercourse, for asymmetry, and for the appearance of the area.
- Liposuction Removal of localised fat deposits through small incisions using a cannula and suction. It reshapes areas that are disproportionate rather than reducing weight, and does not treat loose skin or cellulite.
- Mommy Makeover A combination of body procedures performed in one surgical session to address the changes of pregnancy and breastfeeding. The usual components are breast augmentation or breast lift, abdominoplasty and liposuction, selected according to what an individual case requires.
- Thigh Lift Tightening of loose skin and removal of excess fat and tissue from the upper thigh. Most often performed after significant weight loss, where the skin no longer retracts, and frequently combined with liposuction.
