Breast plastic surgery on CyBC
Dr. Stavrou on the CyBC morning programme Kali Sas Mera, taking the questions patients bring to a first consultation about breast surgery. Broadcast in June 2016.
Dr. Stavrou appeared on the CyBC programme Kali Sas Mera, presented by Gavriella Christodoulou and Loucas Hamatsos, to discuss breast plastic surgery — what the operations involve and what patients most often want to know before deciding on one.
The segment is general. What applies to an individual breast — the starting volume, the position of the nipple, the quality of the skin and whether there has been a pregnancy — is what a consultation is for, and none of it can be assessed from a broadcast.
The recording
The broadcast itself is not published here. The station holds the recording and no copy has been supplied to the practice, so this page carries what the segment covered rather than a player that would not play. It is added here if and when the recording is cleared for republication.
The procedures discussed
The same ground, in writing and in more detail than a television segment allows.
-
Breast Augmentation
Surgery to increase breast volume and alter shape, using implants, the patient's own fat, or a combination of the two. The choice between them, and of implant plane and incision, follows from tissue quality rather than from preference alone. -
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Mastopexy lifts and reshapes the breast by removing loose skin and repositioning the tissue and the nipple. It does not add volume. The degree of ptosis determines which incision pattern is used. -
Breast Reduction
Reduction mammaplasty removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin, repositions the nipple and lifts the remaining tissue. It is performed as much for the physical symptoms of very large breasts as for their appearance.
Before you act on this
A broadcast interview is general by construction. What applies to you depends on your anatomy, your history and what you are trying to achieve, and none of that can be assessed from a recording.
