Facelift Surgery in Cyprus

Looking for a Facelift in Cyprus? Dr. Stavrou performs facial plastic surgeries in Cyprus, Greece & Malta. Our face is an integral part of our identity and plays an essential role in physical attractiveness. Even in the simplest interaction with others, attention gravitates to the face.

But as we age, our face loses its elasticity and volume. The additional adverse effects of sun exposure, hectic lifestyle and daily stress bring about wrinkles, folds and skin sagging to our face and neck.

In addition to volume loss, the structural integrity of our face begins to sag to the point where it becomes more noticeable. The ligaments that hold up the cheeks and the jaw line weaken and make aging more prominent and facial contouring less defined.

Facelifts is a reconstructive plastic surgery, customised to unlock a naturally younger look for your face and neck by improving the most visible signs of aging. It lifts the sagging skin and rejuvenates your face’s plump appearance. Using his extensive understanding of the facial aging process Dr. Stavrou performs facelift plastic surgery that meets and exceeds patient expectations in Cyprus, Greece and Malta. What is Facelift?

Facelift, also known as “Rhytidectomy”, improves the signs of aging on the face and neck by tightening loose skin, and helps you achieve a more rested, youthful appearance while maintaining your natural appearance. A facelift in Cyprus is a popular cosmetic procedure that can help reduce the signs of aging and improve facial appearance. It involves removing excess skin, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin on your face and neck.

Early or advanced signs of aging include loss of skin elasticity, bone mass, soft tissue, tone and contour. The collagen levels drop, whereas deep wrinkles, folds and lax skin emerge. The loose skin extends from cheeks to the jawline.

The science and technology about cosmetic surgeries have been groundbreaking over recent years. New, modern techniques and advances in fat transfer result in a successful facelift without distorting expressive features.

Therefore, facelifts in Cyprus are generally safe procedures when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon who follows all safety protocols.

Recovery time varies from patient to patient but typically takes around two weeks before you can return to normal activities. You may experience some swelling or bruising during this period which should subside within a few days. Your surgeon will provide detailed instructions on how best to care for yourself during recovery, including advice on diet, exercise, and medications if necessary.

The facelift plastic surgery is suitable for both men and women. The results are usually long-lasting, with some patients seeing improvements for up to 10 years after their surgery with the appearance looking at least 10 years younger.

Patients often combine the facelift procedure with Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty or Brow Lift. There are also non-surgical procedures that can lengthen the facelift results, such as Botox, fillers, etc.

The cost of a facelift in Cyprus depends on the complexity of the case and any additional treatments required such as liposuction or fat grafting.

What is a Mini-Facelift?

The mini facelift is suitable for younger patients who exhibit a mild degree of jowling and sagging. It is a less invasive technique to tighten deep facial tissues through shorter incisions, typically located along the hairline above each ear and/or in the natural creases surrounding the ear. Through these incisions, structural tissues around the cheeks are lifted and tightened to correct jowling, refine the jawline, and rejuvenate a “tired” appearance. A mini facelift improves the appearance of the face’s central area, from the upper lip up to the lower eyelid. It repositions lax tissues and enhances the skin’s volume in the mid-face section. The surgeon performs a mini-facelift under general anesthesia or local anesthesia and it takes around two to three hours. Read about the different types of facelifts.

What Does Facelift Surgery Involve?

Step 1:  Anesthesia

The first procedural step is general anesthesia performed by a board certified anesthesiologist. This type of anesthesia will have you sleeping throughout your facial rejuvenation surgery.

Step 2:  Incisions

Through incisions located just behind the hairline, starting near the temples, and following the hairline down to the ear, around the earlobe, and into the lower scalp, post-surgery scarring is hidden within the hair and/or existing facial creases.

The surgeon lifts the facial skin, repositions the deeper facial tissues and removes excess skin, then tightens the surrounding muscles to create a firmer foundation for the skin. The remaining skin is gently laid back over the newly rejuvenated facial tissues, giving the face a smoother, more youthful contour without over-tightening the skin.

Step 3:  Closing incisions

The incisions are closed with exceptional attention to detail using sutures. The incision lines hide within the hairline and in the natural contours of the ear and face.

Recovery After Facelift

After any type of facial plastic surgery, some swelling and bruising is expected that will gradually dissipate after about 10 to 14 days.

After the first two days, the patient will be able to shower and gently wash their hair.

Sleeping with a few extra pillows to elevate the head can help speed the resolution of post-op swelling.

Patients typically return to normal daily activities after about 2 weeks. More strenuous activities may be resumed after the first three weeks post-op.

It’s especially important to keep your face protected from the sun. We suggest the regular use of sunblock to prevent permanent hyperpigmentation and sunburn. In addition, staying out of the sun will help scars heal the best way possible.

FAQs for Facelift

What to expect after facelift surgery?

The final effect of a facelift surgery is a rested, more youthful, natural result that can increase your confidence in “facing” the world, reflecting your real energy level, vitality and youthful spirit!

A facelift in reality lasts forever, giving you a refreshed and rejuvenated look that will endure over many years to come. Even though natural aging will still occur, proper skin care and other non-surgical treatments lengthen the results of the plastic surgery.

When can I sleep on my side after a facelift?

The recovery time after a facelift surgery varies from patient to patient. In any case, patients should not sleep on their face or side for the first two weeks after the surgery. It might take from two to four weeks for most patients to be able to start sleeping on their side.

Can other surgical procedures be done with Facelift?

A facelift surgery is often complimented and further enhanced by:

  • Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) to refresh and rejuvenate the eyes and remove excess, saggy eyelid skin.
  • Brow Lift (Forehead Lift) to gently lift and refresh the brow, helping to create a more youthful appearance to the eyes.

In selected cases, the surgeon harvests the patient’s fat from a troubled area and injects it strategically to smoothen the deep facial lines and wrinkles. This ‘fat transfer facelift’ procedure improves the hollow appearance from the loss of volume and enhances the face’s characteristics, such as the chin and cheeks.

Is Facelift right for me?

The facial bone structure, underlying skin composition, skin thickness, texture and elasticity, extent of facial wrinkles, and folds affect each person differently. Part of the consultation process with Dr. Stavrou is designed to formulate an individualized plan to address your unique features of aging and your specific aesthetic goals.
